Where Is the Love?

In my quiet moments of reflection, a troubling realization has taken hold of my heart: we aren’t as kind and loving to each other as we used to be. The warmth that once defined Christian love seems to be fading, and I can’t help but notice how we’ve started to take our faith for granted. Many of us act as though Christianity is a personal possession, something exclusive, as if only we and our families are striving to see God’s face. In doing so, we’ve neglected the very essence of what it means to follow Christ.

We’ve become so inward-looking, so concerned with our own needs, that we forget about those who are silently suffering. We pray for our families, our close friends, but what about the stranger who is battling depression? What about the person who is crying out for help, yet finds no one to turn to? In our selfishness, we’ve overlooked the broken-hearted, those who are reaching out in desperation, only to find that no one cares.

God isn’t about Himself. His love is reckless, selfless, and it often hurts to witness how far we fall short. He would leave the 99 to go after the one lost sheep, yet we sometimes fail to even look beyond our own doorsteps.

This week, a lady who was going through unimaginable pain reached out during an online worship service. She asked for prayers—her last cry for help. But no one responded. She felt utterly alone, and on Thursday morning, she took her life. My heart is shattered because I know how it feels to carry the weight of the world inside, to have no one to turn to, and to fear that instead of receiving help, you’ll become the subject of gossip. It’s a lonely, dangerous place to be, and it’s so easy to fall into the trap of suicidal thoughts. But with God on your side, you can overcome every trap set by the devil.

Heaven must be a place of indescribable beauty, a place where pain and suffering no longer exist. But until we reach that eternal home, we must be the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth. We must show love, no matter the circumstances. We must be there for one another, even if it’s just to lend an ear. Your kindness, your willingness to care, could be the difference between life and death.

To those who are struggling and feel they can’t talk to anyone, know that God loves you deeply. He sees your pain, even when you can’t find the words to pray. He’s waiting for you with arms wide open, ready to embrace you with His boundless love.

Think about it: What would Jesus do?
